APL Dinner 2016

Another Successful APL Dinner : "the best yet"

The annual Association of Property Lenders Fundraising Dinner took place on the 17th November. The dinner is always a highlight in the APL calendar, indeed the industry, and with the organisation in its 25th year there was a lot to live up to.

This year’s Dinner was kindly sponsored by JLL (www.jll.co.uk), McBains Cooper (www.mcbainscooper.com) and Burges Salmon (www.burges-salmon.com).

Guests started arriving to the fabulous Westminster Plaza Hotel from the mid-afternoon to ready themselves!  The Dinner is the APL’s fundraising event of the year so we are delighted that the evening proved a huge success, raising £28,000 to be shared among the nominated charities The Starlight Foundation (www.starlight.org.uk), Muscular Dystrophy UK (www.musculardystrophy.org), The Unite Foundation (www.unitefoundation.co.uk) and Great Ormond Street Hospital (www.gosh.nhs.uk).

After a drinks reception 930 guests were ushered into the dining room, eventually ... some proved to require more ushering from the drinks reception than others!! They were welcomed by APL President Neil Odom Haslett who gave a short speech before the dinner and entertainment.  To kick off the entertainment Old Men Grooving (those from Britain’s Got Talent final) gave a lively dance routine, remarkable considering their average age was beyond pensionable status (a practice for their performance the following night on Children In Need?) ahead of comedian Jack Whitehall taking to the stage.

Jack had sized up an audience pretty quickly and kept the audience entertained with a topical and entertaining act before closing with some predictions on how the evening may finish up for some of the audience…..  his quick fire routine was, well, brilliant, and a huge success and left the audience wanting more.

For many this was the catalyst for the evening to get started and most were going strong into the small hours.

Sponsors and guests agreed a good night was had by all before people departed in the not so early hours of Friday morning. Apparently Friday was a slow day ……………………

We are very pleased with the pictures of the evening, which can be found on our Flick or Facebook sites; here or https://en-gb.facebook.com/ukassociationofpropertylenders/ . NB - A reminder that you can access the APL website via your smart phones or tablets if you have problems accessing the above sites in the office.

Thanks to Ben Wortley for the great shots. If you would like to order professional copies of any of the photos or looking for a photographer for your next event, please contact him at ben@beaconitsolutions.co.uk.
