APL President, Neil Odom-Haslett and Vice President, Adrian Poole visited Grief Encounter Children's Charity in February and were delighted to present them with a cheque for £5,000.

The APL is very pleased to continue its support of worthwhile causes and, alongside its nominated charity of the year, donations are given to other charitable causes through the year as funds are available.

Grief Encounter (www.griefencournter.org.uk) is a not-for-profit charity that supports children through family bereavement including those affected by the Grenfell Tower disaster. 1 in 29 children in the UK under the age of 16 will suffer the death of a parent and Grief Encounter offers tailored support programs that could last up to two years.

In receiving the donation, Richard Fogelman CEO of Grief Encounter said "It was great to meet you and thank you for your very generous donation of £5,000. At a time when so many bereaved families are in need of support from Grief Encounter, your donation will really make a difference. Last year we saw over 500 families and children with over 170 bereaved clients receiving one to one counselling on a monthly basis. Our helpline supported 839 individuals and we also sent 300 of our Grief Relief Kits to children across the UK. Without Government support we absolutely rely on donations such as yours and your contribution will enable us to shorten our waiting list and help these children much quicker at a time when they are desperate for somewhere to turn".
