In the fourth of four donations to charity following the Annual Fund Raising Dinner,  the APL were delighted to provide a cheque for £15,000 to Muscular Dystrophy.

Muscular Dystrophy told the APL “We are delighted to have been a beneficiary of the APL dinner once again and are astonished that the group’s contribution has now reached £76k over the years.  The impact that this has had for funding research into rare muscle wasting conditions is significant.  We are getting closer to our goal of finding treatments and cures for all types of muscle wasting conditions and appreciate your part in this progress”.

In the third of four donations following the Annual Fund Raising Dinner, the APL was delighted to provide Missing People with a cheque for £15,000.

Missing People provide a lifeline when someone disappears and in the UK someone is reported missing every 90 seconds. That’s 180,000 people every year.

Missing People told the APL that “the money donated will enable us to get one step closer to doubling the number of people directly helped to 20,000 each year by 2022; with a focus on the most vulnerable. In practical terms, this donation could keep our Runaway Helpline open for two weeks. The donation could also support our new 1-2-1 Chat service which enables children to ‘chat’ openly online to our expert team and seek support in an effective way they can trust.

The APL was delighted to provide Railway Children with a cheque for £15,000 in the second of four donations to charity from the Annual Fundraising Dinner.

The Railway Children help to create a safety net for the most vulnerable young people in London, working with children identified on the transport network – an area no other agency is tackling.

The rail network and its stations are magnets to vulnerable children, offering them places to go and places to hide. Unfortunately, abusers know and exploit this, seeking out and befriending the vulnerable before grooming them for sexual or criminal activity.  In many cases the toxic trio of domestic abuse, poor mental health and chaotic substance misuse drives children out of the family home and in some tragic cases they may even resort to using the rail network as a means of ending their life.

The Association of Property Lenders (APL) are proud to have supported YoungMinds, the UK’s leading charity helping children and young people with mental health.  At the APL’s Annual Fundraising Dinner held in November last year, 4 charities were supported of which YoungMinds was nominated by one of the title sponsor’s Savills.

APL member Graham Stenning raised £500 for completing a 100 mile cycle ride as part of a wider 50,000 mile challenge being supported by RBS.  His funds were raised for Coeliac UK and Macmillan Cancer Support and the APL were delighted to contribute.  Congratulations Graham!
